Bye-bye Vixen, hello (not exactly tall) dark stranger. Yes, I named my regular phone “Vixen” (Torch) because it’s sexy in that sort of way but when I laid my hands of the new Blackberry Bold 9900, this first-time reviewer knew she was going to have to focus all her attention of this knockout phone.
As a Blackberry user I was expecting what I already knew of the smartphone product offering: EDGE functionality; integrated GPS; Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capabilities and the RIM Operating System. However what I got was fast, powerful, sexy and super light technology neatly wrapped up in a 130 grams phone…I am impressed. I now had to stop ogling it and actually use it!

10.50mm thick and it slips comfortably into your back pocket without that annoying feeling of a bulge that makes your rear-end look misshapen. The tricky part was switching SIM card from my phone into the Bold 9900, in all honesty, it became annoying rather quickly.
The back cover didn’t slide out or have a press down and lift area for you to easily take it out. I fought, pried, looked helplessly at it waiting for it to miraculously open, I almost ruined my nails – yes I am of the manicure set – but even if it was 1am in the morning I would insert my SIM card darnit! I finally managed to get it right, I don’t quite know how – it just opened, that’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

The Bold 9900 is certainly for the working set who also like to play and once I really got into using it – what I thought was only a Qwerty keyboard phone surprised me a touchscreen element too, yes delayed discovery. The best of both worlds for me, now to really get to using it and taking the Bold 9900 through its paces…
