There are days when I think my home makes me the poster child for Wi-Fi living…no really. OK, maybe not poster child, but the fact is practically everything in my house related to tech runs wirelessly… except for my printer. So when I was given the opportunity to review the HP Deskjet 5525 e-All-in-One Printer I couldn’t wait to get started.
If the box is anything to be believed, thanks to “Ink Advantage” tech it can print up to twice as many pages for the same cost as any other similar printer, very handy when we are all trying to cut costs in the current economic environment. The printer uses wireless, prints documents and photos but also copies and scans.
A big test for me when setting up a new toy is to try and do it without the manual. Manuals are handy things, but I prefer to know that a device is easy to set up and use. The HP Deskjet 5525 did not disappoint. I managed to set everything up within less than 5 minutes and I didn’t even have to connect the printer to my laptop.
A feature that has me very excited is AirPrint, which means I can print pictures and documents directly from my iPhone or iPad. The use of HP ePrint also means that as long as the printer is connected to a network with an Internet connection, I can e-mail documents to print directly to the printer from anywhere and when I get home, the document will be there and ready for use.
So far I am impressed… but I plan on making the printer jump through all the hoops as far as print quality, ease of use and cost effectiveness go. I’ll keep you posted.
