I have to admit, I have a bit of a packaging fetish. Few things excite me as much as opening something brand-spanking new!
When I took out my contract and got my first Blackberry, the sales woman just ripped open the box, tore through the little packet containing the battery and proceeded to insert my SIM card, turn on the phone, and fiddle with the settings… it was a truly horrify experience! Which is why it was so amazing to have a shiny, new Blackberry Bold 9780 couriered to me, and be able to do this all myself.

This baby comes with so many accessories, that I was literally in packaging-opening heaven, it looks so poised and sleek sitting on top of the box, begging to be removed. The setup is simple - really super easy to add your e-mail and instant messenging accounts, social networking apps as well as your Wi-Fi connection. Everything can be done in within five minutes of the phone being taken out of the box.
My only niggle? If your contacts arenʼt saved to your SIM card, it may take a little longer as you need to import all your contacts from your old phone (there’s no “save all contacts to SIM” on the 9780 which can be a VERY frustrating realisation).

Make sure you install the Blackberry Desktop Software on your computer (it comes on a disk in the box, but you can also download it off the web) and then sync the new phone to get all your contacts back. Quick tip: If it isnʼt your first Blackberry make sure all your BBM contacts are saved first!
