How To: Make the Most of Your TomTom - Part 1

Your TomTom will operate at its best if it is continually updated with the new maps and elements as provided by TomTom. It’s a simple step of logging onto the TomTom website and downloading an application to keep you up to date. Here’s how…

Open your Internet browser and type in www.tomtom.com. First ensure your country is depicted correctly.

If it is incorrect, click on the flag shown and you will be directed to the following page where you can select the correct country.

Once that is sorted, you should then click on “My TomTom”

If you are new to the life-changing world of TomTom, then you will need to create an account. Click on the “Create account” link and enter a valid e-mail address as well as a password. If you already have an account, then simply log in with your details.

Once you are logged in, click “My TomTom” again and then click “Get started”. This will lead you to the page to download the My TomTom support application. Do the necessary to download My TomTom for your computer.

Once the download is complete, the TomTom hands logo will appear on your taskbar. The My TomTom application will let you know if/when there are updates. You can also play with the settings so that you are advised every day of possible updates, or only every week, etc.

TomTom also suggests you download the TomTom Home application. This allows you to manage content on your TomTom with your computer by installing customisation features that mirror your personality – a funny voice to make you laugh en route to a difficult meeting, a different car symbol to match your car, a more serene startup image and sound, etc.

Follow the download instructions to download the desktop software.
