The first thing I noticed was that the iTrip is small. Small enough to fit into my admittedly rather small hand. This means it's small enough to carry in your pocket, which is a definite bonus, so you don't have to worry about it getting stolen out of your car.
I had some difficulty finding an "empty" station on my radio to tune the device to. I did manage to tune the iTrip rather easily once I found what I thought was the right frequency on my radio. It was just a matter of pushing a few buttons on the iTrip and matching the frequencies.
I was a bit unimpressed that the iTrip kept 'skipping' off my iPod and onto the next station on my radio but that may be because I had not found a completely free frequency. So eventually I decided to use the SmartScan function and with just one press of a button I found an "empty" station and it was a simple matter of tuning my radio in and away I went listening to my iPod, no skipping at all. Lesson learned: tune the iTrip first using SmartScan, then your car radio.
I suppose I should have read the instructions on the box before trying to be clever and struggling to tune everything manually. But, on the other hand, with that out of the way, I'm expecting it to be smooth sailing with happy tunes from now on.
