We have a projector set-up at my house in lieu of an idiot box, so last time I owned a TV it was a grey behemoth that insisted on making it’s presence felt in all dimensions. It required a huge cabinet to house it and yet, the screen was miniscule compared to its insistent footprint.

Enter the Samsung Smart TV: shiny, black, rectangular and anorexic, especially when compared to anything I’ve yet encountered. (The irony is that the 4-year old who plays my son on the series which is my day-job, walked into my dressing room, looked at the black rectangular, flat, felt pin-board against the wall and wanted me to turn on the TV. Oh, but the generation gap is a telling thing!)

For some reason getting a signal from the decoder box to the TV was not as seamless as I would have liked. I got immediate and amazing tech support from Samsung when I called them next day and for some strange reason this time, when I did exactly the same thing as the night before, there was an immediate signal. Don’t ask.

However, the moment we plugged in the Wireless LAN Adapter which had been supplied with the TV, it immediately picked up the Wi-Fi and gave me access to online news and the social media sites like Facebook, Twitter and YouTube etc.
Though the bf loves his projector, he was immediately smitten with the Samsung Smart TV. More about our two weeks with this beauty soon.
