Google has just released it’s latest update to the Android OS. Version 4, which is codenamed Ice Cream Sandwich, further refines the user interface (UI) introduced in Android 3.0 and adds new features.
For those of you who are familiar with the new batch of Android tablets, the updated UI might look familiar as it continues the ‘hologram’ UI style introduced in Android 3.0.
The updated interface updates a number of existing powerful features such as easy multitasking, rich notifications, customizable home screens and widgets while extending the UI theme across the whole OS.
New features include better built in data monitoring, a new camera that offers editing, filters and effects right from within the camera app. Another great feature for you shutterbugs is the single-motion panorama feature allowing you to pan the camera and have the app automatically generate a panorama image for you, long gone are the days of trying to align your panorama photos.
This latest update introduces many more features and refinements that cements Android as one of the front-runners in the mobile OS market. As of today, new Samsung Galaxy Nexus will be running Ice Cream Sandwich. It's expected that the other phone manufacturers will add their own Ice Cream Sandwich based handsets very soon.
