Philips Fidelio Docking Speaker - Snapshot

What with the bf having recently decamped to Cape Town and with him the fabulous sound system, being handed the Philips Fidelio DS8550 Docking Speaker, definitely brightened my day. Not to mention, broke the rather deafening silence!

A dock is a dock is a dock, you say? Not so. This baby blew me away and astonished me with its rich baritone coming out of a slick, sleek, user-friendly and surprisingly lightweight package.

The dock itself has only a power button and sound controls. The rest of the controls lie at your fingertips in a slim oval remote that gives you mastery from across the room.

I surmised that this was simply a system to which you connected your iPhone, iPod or iPod Touch, but it seems there’s lots more to this little wonder. You can also listen to your music via Bluetooth and it’s even been designed to work with your iPad. Not only that, but when you connect your iPad via Bluetooth, Philip’s has provided an extra stand for your convenience.

And the pièce de résistance where I’m concerned? It has a built-in rechargeable battery that allows you to go cordless for up to 5 hours. How awesome is that? So far it’s been the auditory version of love at first sight. Tune back in soon and I’ll tell you if my first impression was sound.
