The first gadget I was given to review came in a laptop bag, which made me think it must be a laptop. I've heard of this "ThinkPad" thing before, and so I'm quite sure it must be a laptop. Upon receiving it, I slipped it out of the bag partially just to see what it was and took a quick peek, and slipped it back, as something like this needs to be explored in my own time.

Once I was home and ready to plug it in and power it up, I noticed a problem: I seem to be missing the power cable. I have the box-power-transformer thingy, but no cable that plugs into the wall, so I harvested one from my own laptop. As for my experience with laptops, I have the same hardly-used one for the last four years. (You do not even want to know how long I my current phone has lasted me!!)

The next thing I notice is how incredibly light and compact the ThinkPad is. This  (if you ask me) is what makes it perfect for travel. Completely simple to use, right from the moment I pressed the ON button.

Between my phone, my digital camera, and current laptop experiences, the most important question that needs to be answered about any device is battery life and of course - the longer the better. My own personal laptop doesn't score very high on this chart, so I'm quite looking forward to seeing the battery life of the ThinkPad Edge, as I find out more about what it can do.
