How To: Order an e-Book from Amazon
  1. If you already have an account with Amazon that you have previously used to purchase paper books, you can skip to step 8.
  2. If you don't have an account, go onto www.amazon.com and click "Start here" next to the "New Customer?" prompt at the top of the page. This account set-up process is best done from a computer.
  3.  Enter your email address.
  4.  Click on "No, I am a new customer" under the "enter password" prompt.
  5.  A password will be sent to your email address.
  6. Log on using your email address and password.
  7.  Enter your shipping address and bank details to complete account set-up.
  8. Browse "Kindle Store" on your Kindle device or any other mobile or desktop device that supports Amazon software.
  9.  When you have found a book or periodical that you want to buy, click on "buy".
  10.  Then click on "Yes" to confirm that you want to purchase the item. This confirmation process makes it unlikely that you (or your toddler, or the contents of your handbag) will order a book by mistake.
  11. Within approximately 60 seconds, your purchase will have been delivered to your device and you will be able to access it from the home menu.

Side note: All the books you have purchased are backed up online. You can access your full library of purchased books, with a record of which page you had read to, from any fixed or mobile device that supports Amazon software. Here are some links to the various Kindle apps, which will set you on the right path to getting them downloaded.
