iTunes is an application for your Mac or PC that organises and plays your digital music and videos on your computer. It keeps all your content in sync. And it's a store that has everything you need to be entertained.
Opening a South African iTunes account couldn't be easier. There are even a few ways to do it...
1. From iTunes:
- You will need to download and install iTunes first. Go here (http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/) to download it.
- Once it is downloaded, install the software on your Mac or PC.
- Open the program and click on the iTunes Store in the left hand column
- This box will then appear, and click "Continue" to start setting up your account

- A Ts & Cs page will then pop up and once you've read through this, hit "Continue"
- You will then be prompted with this box where you need to click "Create New Account" to continue

- Enter an email address (which will become your Apple ID going forward), a password, security question and date of birth, and click "Continue" (It is important to note that your password will need to be at least 8 characters long and must contain at least 1 numeral and one uppercase letter)

- You will then need to enter your credit card details

- Once you're done, Apple will send through an email asking you to confirm your account. Simply click on the link provided in the email and you're done.
2. From an iOS Device:
- Open the app store application on your iOS device
- Select an app that you would like to purchase
- Click "Install"
- Select the "create a new account" option
- This will bring up another screen where you will need to complete the following:
a. Confirm country or region (South Africa)
b. Agree to the iTunes Terms and Conditions (Scroll down to the bottom and select "agree")
c. Enter an email address (which will become your Apple ID going forward), password, security question, and date of birth. (as above, your password will need to be at least 8 characters long and contain at least one numeral and one uppercase letter)
d. Enter your relevant credit card details as well as a contact number and click next
- Once you're finished, Apple will email you a confirmation email, simply click on the link provided in the email and you're done.
PLEASE NOTE: As this is the South African version of the iTunes store, only non-game related apps, public domain reference books and novels, Podcasts and iTunesU content is available. Movies, TV series and Music are not available.
