I often get asked by new bloggers how they can get their own image in the avatar shown when they comment on other blogs (instead of being shown as a little grey head). It’s really quite a simple process, but it’s not so obvious to find. All it involves is registering your e-mail addresses that you use for commenting on Gravatar.

If you have a WordPress.com blog, then there’s no need to sign-up for a Gravatar account, you just have to log in with your WordPress details. Once you’ve logged in, add an image to link to your e-mail address

Gravatar also allows you to load more than one e-mail address and link them to the same image. This is really handy if you blog using two personas (like one for personal blogging and one for business related blogging) or if your e-mail address changes. Once your image is loaded and cropped into a square to your liking, that image will appear on every blog post that you use that e-mail address to comment.
In fact, all your old comments will now show your new avatar too.

And that’s that, it’s easy!
(Note: that this does not work on Blogspot blogs.)
