How To: Change your Xbox LIVE Avatar and Gamertag

Today we’ll show you how to change your Gamertag and edit your Avatar while logged into Xbox LIVE via your PC.

Changing your Gamertag

Open you browser, enter www.xbox.com and click go. After logging into your Xbox account, (which we show you how to do in here ) click on the “My account” link.

001

The “Account” page is displayed. Here you click on “Edit Profile” under your avatar.

002

Now click on the “Change gamertag” link.

Enter your new gamer tag on this page and click “check availability” to see if the name is available for use.

003

If the tag is not available, it will notify you and give some suggestions for new gamertags.

004

Repeat the previous steps until you find one that you like and that is available. When available, click on the “Claim it” button and presto, you have a new gamertag!

Changing your Avatar

On the “Edit Profile” page, click on the “Change your Gamerpic in the Avatar Editor” link.

007

The avatar editor is a nice little interactive tool, where your avatar is alive.  Hover over the character you like and click to select. (Or alternatively click on “More Choices” for some more characters.)

008

This is where you get creative!

009

After selecting your new avatar you can edit the character as you please. Select the height and width for your avatar, to change its size.

010

Click on “My features” to change the physical look of the Avatar, like skin colour, hair, eyes and mouth.

011

For a cool outfit, “My Style” is where you would like to go.

012

In “Gamer Picture” you can have some fun by taking pictures of you Avatar in cute poses. Marketplace is the place to go to buy your Avatar some outfits and props - there are always new items which are getting released to tie in with new games. These will be available on your Xbox and any other Windows Live enabled devices.

When you are done playing dress-up, click save to introduce the world to your new look!
